Facebook Makes a Corporate Move

I have recently read an article which states some new changes Facebook will soon be making. Most people know successful companies are often involved in key partnerships which are beneficial for both or all companies involved. Well, this is exactly what Facebook is doing. Facebook is planning to introduce partnerships with companies such as Netflix, music downloading companies, and others. As a result of this partnership facebook members would be able to see what their friends are watching for movies, listening to for music, etc. Then, as a result of these updates, the companies which facebook is partnering with will get their name advertised as well. However, facebook wants to make it clear they are not becoming a "goods" site such as Amazon or Ebay. Facebook is simply partnering with companies in order to spread the name of all participants in the partnership. I think there are positives and negatives to this situation. An example of a positive with this situation is that the companies involved increase their advertising effectiveness and spread their name across a major social networking channel. An example of a negative in these partnerships is that facebook users might become annoyed by constantly hearing about what their friends are watching or listening to. This is could turn more negative because facebook users could boycott these services provided by facebook and the other companies. All in all, facebook needs to consider the positives and negatives to this situation before immediately implementing. I think this should be very interesting to follow what happens with the partnerships facebook is thinking about starting.

Linked In for Dummies

A lot of people do not have Linked In. Why is this? Is it because they do not know the benefits of using the business social media site? Is it because people think they do not need linked in? I recently came across an article which explained "Linked In for Dummies." This article mentioned that Linked In has over 19 million users participating in over 150 industries. With these statistics taken into consideration, Linked In is one of the largest and fastest growing business networking sites. Linked in can be used for:
  • Networking
  • Hiring
  • Posting jobs
  • Get business advice; expertise
  • Find high-quality passive candidates (people who are not really looking for a job)
Linked In can also enable its users to utilize many other benefits the site has to offer. All in all everyone should have Linked In if they participate in business. Linked In offers its users with many benefits. There must be a reason that Linked In is being talked about as the "facebook of business."

How LinkedIn is Doing Their Own Networking to Attract New Employees

Linked In social media has turned into the biggest aspect of business networking in today's business society. Since Linked In has been a booming form of social media, they have found that they need to hire more employees in their engineering, marketing, and sales departments. It has been mentioned that Linked In will be hiring 1,000 new employees this year. This hiring streak is biggest in the company's history. Some may be asking, "how are they going to attract candidates for all of the positions that need to be filled?" Detailed below are a few ways Linked In plans to fill these positions with excellent candidates.

1. Offering Stock Options: Linked In is offering stock options for employees since they have recently gone public on Wall Street. Therefore, Linked In has recognized that candidates for these positions are attracted because of the extensive stock options the company offers.

2. Meeting the Boss: Linked In does not have the CEO meet or interview the new candidate. Instead the interviewer shows the candidate that the CEO's door is always open. Therefore, the business social media giant feels that this gives the candidate confidence to know that CEO is open for conversation if the candidate were to receive the job at Linked In Company.

3. Start-Up Mentality. In these positions Linked In wants to attract individuals with an entrepreneurial mindset. Linked In feels that this frame of mind will enable the employee to formulate new and innovative ideas on how Linked In can get better as a business. Linked In mentions that working at the company is not a "9 to 5, 40 hours per week" job. They expect their employees to work the same amount of hours as they would if the employee were starting their own company.

All in all, Linked In plans to attract new employees using the previously listed methods. I think these methods can work for the business networking leader. Linked In is a great asset to individuals and to corporations. Linked In has proven successful through continuous growth.  Everyone should have a Linked In account because of its proficiency with business networking through social media
